Portland Singles Reviews Dating Advice You Should Ignore

Are you struggling when it comes to dating, but can't figure out why?  Well, it could be because you're simply following the wrong dating and relationship advice!  The dating and relationship experts from PortlandSingles Dating Service see this all the time.  Today, they'll help you out by reviewing the dating advice you should never follow.

The matchmakers from Portland Singles know that just because someone offers you dating advice doesn't mean you have to listen--And today they'll show you why.  So read on to improve your dating skills.

You Don't Need Mr. Right, Mr. Right Now Will Do

When you're in your forties or fifties, it's no longer "Love is all you need, but rather Mr. Right now is all you need."  Have you heard that line before?  Of course you have, because it's one of those horrible pieces of dating advice that is always floating around.  So what is the difference between settling and compromising?  Well, it's pretty simple--When you get married, what can you live with and what can you live without?--That's the way it should be look at, however, too many people make the mistake of thinking like this... How long should you have to wait for someone better to come along? ...  Someone who might possibly never come--And who might not even exist or be available to you, even if he did exist?  So shouldn't you just be happy with the person you have right in front of you?  This is the wrong way to approaching dating, explains Portland Singles.

Think about this, what is wrong with holding on until you find someone who is everything you want in a partner?  By the time a woman hits her forties, she has had enough time to get to know herself, what she's looking for, and what red flags to keep an eye on.  Don't ever settle for Mr. Right Now.  If Mr. Right Now is treating you poorly or with disrespect, there is no point in settling for him, reminds Portland Singles.

Cook Him A Nice Meal & He'll Marry You

This one is a little spin on baking cookies or having an apple pie for an open house--The smell of baked sweets makes someone feel like they're right at home.  You have probably heard that if you bake him some of his favorite desserts and prepare his favorite meals, he will marry you.  But this usually happens because these home-cooked meals and pastries remind him of home and all the things his mother did for him.  But unless you want him to marry you because he thinks of you as his mother, this approach should never be applied.  Instead you should find specific ways to make him fall in love with you, explains Portland Singles.  Focus your efforts on getting to know him and allow him to get to know you to make sure the two of you are a good match for each other.

Don't Accept Last Minute Dates

It's Wednesday evening, you have no plans tonight (well, except that Zumba class that you're dreading to go to anyway)...  Your iPhone rings and it's that guy you just started dating.  He tells you he just scored two tickets that new movie that you've been hoping to see, but it starts in two hours.  Do you really want him to know you had no plans that night?  Wouldn't it be desperate to accept a last minute plan?  The whole idea that women should never accept last minute plans is completely outdated, just as the one that women should not wear pants.  While you shouldn't be so available that you become predictable, there is absolutely nothing wrong with accepting a same day invitation to go out on a date, especially if you are interested in this man, explains Portland Singles.

Don't Let Him See You Eat A Lot

You don't want to look like a pig by ordering a triple cheeseburger, do you?  That's right, ladies--You've all heard this one and probably even followed the advice by not ordering anything but a lemon water, right?  Well, stop it.  Of course you might not want to order a big greasy cheeseburger, but then order a small salad or a fish or chicken plate to show him that you do eat, because a woman on a date should always order something, explains Portland Singles.  The only thing a woman should keep in mind when ordering at a restaurant is the cost.  If the man is taking you out on a date, be polite and order something at a reasonable price range.  But whatever you do, don't order anything with garlic or onion if you're hoping for a good night kiss.

You Can't Call Him After Two Days--It's A Dating Rule

Two days, three days, or even a week--If you call too soon, or too late, you're going to blow the whole thing regardless, right?  Of course not.  Actually the matchmakers of Portland Singles recommend, in regards displaying good manners, it is always nice to send a text message to let your date know you had a good time, or even an email.  This shows him that you are interested and he'll reciprocate.  So with that being said, there is absolutely nothing wrong with contacting him, even after the date.  But remember, this is to thank him and let him know you had a good time, not to proclaim your love for him.

Ditch Him If He Wants To Go Half & Half

Interestingly, many women still believe that all men should be the ones paying for dates, especially if he was the one that initiated the date in the first place.  But if he asks to go half and half on the date, that should not mean you cannot see him again.  After all, he could be facing money issues since the economy is poor--And that is something a lot of people can relate to.  So if you are interested in him, give him the benefit of the doubt.  Just because he did not pay for the whole meal, does not mean he didn't want to or that he was being rude towards you.

No Spark, No Second Date

A lot of times, even if there aren't fireworks on a first date, good things will come for those who wait.  Love takes time if it's real, explains Portland Singles.  And if you're one of those people who only want someone where it's love at first sight, you must know that love usually fades away after the fire settles.

You need to learn to be patient and let love take it's course, that is if you want it to last.  So is it worth it to go on a second date if there isn't a spark on the first one?  The dating experts at Portland Singles say absolutely.  They urge you to understand that one the first date, there are often too many factors standing in the way of getting to know each other well.  Everyone has a ghost in their closet, so people tend to stereotype and have tendencies to stop a relationship before it even begins.  As mentioned above, love takes time, and it might take a few more dates to realize you have a connection with this man.

Keep Some Mystery

How can you establish a romantic relationship if you are not being real?  Trying to be mysterious instead of being true to yourself means he's not gong to get to know the real you.  While sharing your whole life story on a first date is not a good idea, explains Portland Singles, waiting to tell him some less flattering details is okay.  Be natural and honest, and let the relationship takes its course.
